You know, we get many URL’s and keywords submitted to us each day, and we are shocked at some SEO mistakes we see! As you know, our link building service is here to help you rank higher, and we do hope to make our blog educational for you, so that money invested into ranking pays back and earns even more!
Purpose of Keywords and Rank:
There are two reasons you want to rank your keywords in the search engines. To get traffic to your “money page” or to get your money page ranked very high!
So the SEO mistakes we see are:
People are NOT selecting “Money keywords”! And from talking to few of our customers, we have realized that they do not see the difference between the traffic keyword and the money keyword.
So here is an example: “Honda” this is a main keyword, but not targeted money keyword. Honda Accord, this is getting to the money keyword! Honda Accord EX, this is much, much better! But “Cheap Honda Accord EX” or “Review of Honda Accord EX” is a money keyword.
BUT… In the example given, if you are earning from Google ads, you can earn some money from the example above, but most people do not shop online for high ticket stuff, such as car, as you really should examine the car before you buy it (ha ha ha). But the example above was just to show you how you should search for your money keywords. Replace “Honda” with any product name, and start looking for keywords where people are getting ready to spend money. If you are spending time and money on a keyword that will never EVER convert into any customer or cash, it is worthless and you are making one of the ultimate seo mistakes!
Side Note to Affiliates: Pick a product that has a price tag of at least $50 and can be packaged into a very small box or of course digital delivery. The reason is that those type of products sell a lot more online then heavy stuff such as 3 PC sofa set.
The Traffic Keyword:
There is also difference between money keyword and traffic keyword. Traffic keyword is more “Review of Honda Accords”! You see, someone searching for review of Honda accords, they are narrowing down the model they want to buy, and that type of traffic is very “warm lead” traffic.
That type of traffic will convert a lot better into a paying customer than if you went for “Review of Honda’s”, as with Honda you have motorcycles as well as cars, so you really would not know what Honda review they need.
And here is one of the most surprising SEO mistakes on keywords. Even when they do find the one that is good. They seem to ignore on page optimization for those keywords.
Know this, the page that has on page optimization done will need a lot less links than a page that has no optimization. So have your keywords in the URL, In the Title, and at keyword density between 1-3%! On page optimization takes only about 5 minutes of your time, and it will save you hours in the long run.
So this concludes SEO mistakes Part 1 and soon we will be sending you SEO Mistakes part two!

Very insightful post thanks.
I must admit that I quite often forget to drill into the money keywords, instead opting for a long tail keyword.
I am off to look for money keywords!!
Regards
Jonathan
interesting idea of splitting keywords into money ones and traffic ones … good idea!
Though I agree that many people don’t choose “money words,” the biggest SEO mistake I see being made is doing SEO and other traffic functions to drive visitors to a page which doesn’t have a proper call to action to engage the prospect.
If some one is simply marketing a product on line their page is usually a “sales letter.” However, for the more common business owner with a presence on the web they frequently are just sending them to their website where because they have no direct offer or value proposition they are simply wasting most of their investment in these tactics.
Great points about money keywords! I never really thought about the distinction between money and traffic, but it makes sense.
I have never thought of using “review” in the keywords. Great article!!
I don’t know why but for the longest time I was one who just could not get the concept of money kw vs traffic. Once I managed to do that my income more than doubled. Very good advice for those who havent’ yet grasped the concept.
those are great tips. thanks for sharing
I have made this mistake more times than I can count.
keyword info is Superb
I am yet a bit confused and would be very grateful if it could be explained with a few more examples–ie MONEY KW VS TRAFIC KWS
Keywords are such a pest to find but how important they are to our success or otherwise. Thanks for the info about money/buying keywords – I resolve to be more careful.
Thank you for the timely reminder. This is not new to me, but how soon I forget.
I appreciate this.
great reminder.
Great tip on picking money keywords. I wish I had learned this when I first created a number of websites. It Sure would have made a difference I”m sure.
Appreciate your post and reminder. I know now how to choose keywords as targeted. Thanks again for the reminder!
Excellent! that way is so much cheaper your backlink investment, WELL DONE!
Wouldn’t you want a traffic keyword if you were using Adsense or some other model that you got paid for people to click through to another website.
Thank you for the great info. My question to you is this. When using keyword finding software, is looking at customer intent the same as the money keyword?
Thanks and God bless.
Buyer keywords is more what people are getting ready to buy. We as buyers go to phases, we search for the solution and we review the solution before we buy. It is kind of the difference between “the best tires for Honda” or “Cheap Tires xyz”
Finding the balance between appeasing the ‘Bots’ and engaging your potential customer is difficult. The ‘Bots’ are relatively easy as there is a formula. Dealing with people is different. I have found a discount coupon works well as a reason for buying which is a good call to action just by explaining the discount coupon.
Video is the best way of engaging the customer to keep them on site to give you more time to make a reasonable proposition.
Your post certainly made a lot of us think, general keywords have no real value, in the end the drilling down is the bit that makes the real difference
Thanks for sharing that with us.
Hey:
You folks are worth your weight in GOLD!
Thanks for the help.

It makes one wonder, some people make the same mistakes over and over again.
Have your main keyword in the name and don’t forget to have it in the TITLE of the web site.

I agree with you. Most people do not divide keywords into the two different groups-Money keywords and Traffic keyword. Nice article and great tips.
Thanks for the tip on the difference between money key words and the “just browsing” keywords. Looking forward to part 2.
Great article I’m sure most people don’t know how to find and optimise for the right keywords or just simply don’t bother.
Personally I find keyword research the worst part of Internet marketing, it’s frustrating and very time consuming.
I’m glad I found a few tools on my website to make it faster and easier.
Great post and looking forward to reading part 2.
You are right I always seem to pick the wrong keyword. Thats happen to me, now I use a couple different program that steer me in the right direction. Great article.
I always find that keyword research is done last after testing different SEO strategies, it only becomes apparent from the results further down that this is important. A mistake i believe we all make early doors.
I would say it is crucial to get this right first time by learning and spending more time on keyword research from the get go.
But even when i was told time after time to do this first, i still did not listen and learned the hard way.
So do not do SEO/link building without getting this right first, it will only mean wasted time and money
And totally agree with on-page – does not take 5 minutes to do and can provide a massive difference, depending on your competitors.

Great post up there! Yes, I have to agree. If you want to make affiliate sales online or generally, just to make money online, you have to know which keywords that your visitors will use to get to your page. It all comes down to the Customer Purchase Lifecycle. If you want them to buy something on your website, you should use a more targetted keyword and not a broad one.
I agree with the contents of the article above, use the keywords more
spesik and more focused on the target market will get visitors who

Great advise. This has worked time and time again for us. Dont just look for keywords with high traffic . Look for keywords with maybe less traffic but a high conversion to a sale
